The beauty of John Carroll is that there are a wide variety of majors.
Everything from data science, to communications, to English.
And I think the important thing to recognize is that you really do not need to know from day one exactly where you fit in. You don't know enough about yourself, so it's a path of discovery. You're going to take classes that allow you to learn more about a field, as well as learn more about yourself.
So it's the wide range that you would experience at any large university. So we've got the advantage of a breadth of offerings with a kind of personal touch, and small classes.
Your first two years tend to be grounded in the liberal arts because we think that that's foundational for lifelong success.
A liberal arts core is really critical because it provides all of the building blocks that make students successful for the rest of their lives. And it applies to every other field and discipline that they choose to go forward in their majors.
What the core gives students is a shared understanding of the richness of human knowledge and the questions that we've been asking since the beginning of being human.
We take very seriously a variety of different classroom exposures so that some classes are set up for more interactive engagement, others are more traditional lecture, but what you'll find is that they're all designed to encourage interaction.
Engaged learning and experiential learning are core elements of the curriculum. Almost every major has some process that they go through to really take on real world learning.
A John Carroll education is one that's not just about preparation for some future job. It's about preparing for and imagining what a good life would look like for you.
