The faculty member that chooses to join us at John Carroll has an incredibly strong commitment and passion for the classroom experience. They're looking to always find innovative ways to deliver what they do. And I think the one to one access that you have at a place like John Carroll is a very unique characteristic.
Professors make a concerted effort to know the names of each of their students. And more than that, to know their stories. I think that doesn't really happen at other institutions.
Faculty student interaction is what makes John Carroll a unique institution. Part of the idea of having these smaller class sizes, and the individual academic advising with the faculty members, it really allows each faculty to get to know the students. So it really takes a good conversation, some good reflection on the student, and the faculty's part to help that student take the correct prerequisite courses to get to the graduate school, to get the right internships, to interview and network with the right people in the industry.
Many of us become lifelong mentors for people at different career points. The students have access to us, so we regularly have office hours, we're actively engaged, we're available for them.
There are so many opportunities for students to engage in undergraduate research at John Carroll.
We take seriously the ability to engage in professional research that contribute to the knowledge in the field.
Having our students get the ability from the minute that they walk on campus as freshmen to have the opportunity to get hands-on experiential learning in whatever career it is that they want to go into.
It enables students to really basically flip the classroom in a sense, imagine what it would be like for them to be professors or researchers.
